Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Margaret Martha Krueger, 91, of Traverse City, died early Friday morning, June 17, 2011, at her home while under the loving care of her daughters, Caroline and Elva. She faced her recent illness as she lived her own life, with strength and dignity.She was born on June 26, 1919, in Chicago, Ill., the daughter of the late Carl and Theophile (Kalis) Golke. She was born again of water and the Spirit in Holy Baptism on July 5, 1919.On July 4, 1937, at Christ Lutheran Church in Boyne City, she married the Rev. Albert Edward Krueger. Margaret was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church, where she participated in many activities. She had a beautiful Christian life.With her tender heart and gentle spirit, Margaret touched the lives of many. She devoted her life to her husband and children and was an unwavering source of encouragement, support and love in their lives. Margaret was an accomplished seamstress.Left to cherish her memory are her eight children; daughters, Elva Krueger, Judy (Jim) Soos, Esther (Al) Perrault, Caroline Krueger, Paulette (George) Strasburg, Susan (Mark) Reece and Jeanette (Richard) Johnson; son, Timothy (Beverly) Krueger; five sisters; two brothers; 15 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Albert Edward Krueger; infant sons, Paul and Philip; daughter, Madaline Green; brother, Carl Golke; sister, Frieda Rose; and grandson, Andrew Perrault.Funeral services will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Monday, June 20, 2011, at 11:30 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Robert Zagore will officiate. Graveside services will be held at Maple Lawn Cemetery in Boyne City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Concordia Theological Seminary, Fort Wayne, Ind., or to Hospice of Michigan.
