Margaret (Peg) Ann Reid of Traverse City (formerly Eastport) passed away on July 4th, 2020 surrounded by her loving family who will miss her greatly. She was born in Detroit on September 11, 1925, daughter to William and Ann (Harris) Lore.
Peg lived most of her life in Eastport, where she and her husband John owned and operated a gift shop where they sold their own handmade pottery and furniture.
On July 15, 1946, she married John Reid in Charlevoix to whom she was married for 68 years when he passed away in 2014.
In 2002 the couple moved to Traverse City. Margaret was a founding and lifetime member of the Grand Traverse Kennel Club.
Peg is survived by her son and daughter-in-law John Jr. and Tammy Reid of Kewadin, grandchildren Jennifer (Randy) Hinds of Traverse City, Jason (Becke) Hockenbery of Rapid City, Stephanie (Ryan) Hebden of Bellaire, Jimmy Hockenberry (Lindsay Hice) of Petoskey and Alexandra Reid (Austin Lawnichak) of Traverse City, Great Grandchildren Rowan, Mackenzie, Andrew, McKyla and Teagan. Sister-in-law Donna Ried New York, New York and niece Christine Lore, Palm Dessert, CA. In addition to her husband and parents, Peg had a brother William E. Lore III of CA who preceded her in death.
She will be greatly missed by longtime dear friends Mary Allen and Barb Faas. Also very special friends and neighbors Jerry and Jackie Clark whose compassion and thoughtfulness were invaluable.
The family would like to give a heartfelt thank you to Hospice of Michigan for their wonderful care and support.
Per Peg's wishes, there will be no formal services. The family will be gathering privately to celebrate her life.
