Margaret D Rohwetter, 90, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully with family by her side, at Orchard Creek Supportive Care, on Monday, January 27, 2025. She was born in Oakley, MI, on July 15, 1934, to Ellen and Cleo Holt. Raised in Chesaning, MI, she met and married John Rohwetter in 1956. Margaret faithfully followed her husband for his career in the Michigan State Police, living in Erie, Marquette, Wixom, and eventually Traverse City, where they retired. Margaret created a loving home, in each place that they landed. She also loved to travel with John, exploring fun places throughout the country. Margaret's passions and expertise spanned from cooking and baking to gardening; from home decorating to sewing and quilting. Her sewing skills started early, as she made much of her own clothing starting in high school. She even designed and made her wedding gown. "Grandma Margie" loved to spoil her grandchildren with endless pancakes, cookies and custom created birthday cakes. Once her grandkids grew, she became a sports enthusiast, attending most of all of their events. This meant many hours in bleachers, in all kinds of weather.
Margaret is survived by her children; Sandra (John) Turnquist, Traverse City, Eric (Victoria) Rohwetter, Savannah, GA.. Grandchildren; Jill Turnquist, Traverse City, Jodi (Eric) Sandmann, Traverse City, and Jeffrey Turnquist, Saginaw, MI. A brother, Gary (Andrea) Holt, Dewitt, MI, sister-in-laws MaryJane Rohwetter, Hemlock, MI, Maryanne Rohwetter, St. Charles, MI, and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John Rohwetter, infant daughter, Michelle, and sister, Carole Louchart.
Margaret's family would like to thank the entire staff of Orchard Creek Supportive Care for the devoted care they have provided over the years, as well as the team from Hospice of Michigan.
A Memorial Service for Margaret will take place on Saturday, June 7th at Mission Hill Church, starting at 2:00pm. A luncheon will follow the service. A luncheon will follow the service.
