Margaret Shorter

Maple City – Margaret "Margie" Susan Shorter, 73, of Maple City passed away January 28, 2018 at Munson Medical Center.

Margie was born on November 21, 1944 in Traverse City to William A. and Mary (Miller) Stachnik.

On August 20, 1966 Margie married Jimmy Keith Shorter Sr. in Maple City at St. Rita-St Joseph Catholic Church. They were married 51 years and raised two children.

Margie's family was the most important thing in her life. She enjoyed playing board games, cards and was often found on the floor playing with the little ones. She especially enjoyed watching her family play softball and baseball.

Margie is survived by her husband Jimmy Sr.; her daughter Veronica "Vicky" (Michael) Ayling; her son Jimmy (Terri) Shorter Jr.; grandchildren Nicole and Daniel Ayling, Haden and Colby Shorter; sisters Betty (William) Flaska, Theresa Steinebach, Rose (Terry) Pierson and Gertrude (Michael) Shorter along with many nieces and nephews.

Margie was preceded in death by her parents and sister Helen Nachazel.

A celebration of Margie's life will be held on Saturday February 10th at 2pm, Solon Township Hall in Cedar.

Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Hospital in memory of Margie.
