TRAVERSE CITY — Margaret "Marge" M. Sleder, 96, of Traverse City, passed away Sunday, Dec. 5, 2010, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. Marge was born Dec. 1, 1914, in Traverse City to the late Francis and Anna (Ansorge) Allgaier. She married the late Louis "Louie" Sleder on Feb. 8, 1937, also in Traverse City.Marge attended and graduated from St. Francis High School in the class of 1932. She and Louie owned and proudly operated Sleder's Tavern, which has been a long-standing Traverse City tradition. Also, she was the former owner and operator of Margie's Court-A Resort on Lake Leelanau.Marge was a dedicated member at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She was a member of the Church Women's Guild, the T.C. Elks Lodge Daisy Chain and the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Marge enjoyed hosting euchre parties, playing cards, bingo and dancing. Surviving Marge are her daughters, Lois S. Sleder and Charlotte (Glen) Belanger; four grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and 12 step-great-grandchildren; sisters Ethel Ehrenberger and Mary Allgaier; and brother Elmer Allgaier.Marge was preceded in death by her parents; husband Louie; son-in-law James Richards; sisters Dorothy Shimel and Hilda Allgaier; brother Clarence Allgaier; sisters-in-law Helen Allgaier, Catherine Allgaier and Charlotte Allgaier; and brothers-in-law Joseph Ehrenberger and Bob Shimel.Visitation for Marge will take place from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 7 p.m. rosary on Thursday, Dec. 9, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 10, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Traverse City. Fr. James Hayden will serve as officiant.
