Margaret Ann (Lourim) Stivender, age 90, of Jackson, Bloomfield Hills and Traverse City, Michigan passed away on April 8, 2025. Margaret was born to the late Francis P. and Marian (Horning) Lourim, the youngest of five children. In 1956, Margaret married Donald L. Stivender and enjoyed 50 years of marriage. Together they enjoyed hosting Bridge Club, having summer gatherings with friends at the lake and traveling with the Nomads.

Margaret attended Michigan State University, where she earned an associate's degree. She met her husband Don, who was then in the Coast Guard, marrying in 1956. Early years of marriage were spent in Cheboygan, Ann Arbor and Warren, Michigan as their family grew and her husband Don's engineering career took him to the General Motors Tech Center.

She enjoyed gardening and was a wonderful cook, including mastering the grill. She enjoyed baking pies & bread with home-grown raspberries and zucchini from the garden and livening up salads with her own tomatoes. She made the best chocolate birthday cakes ever.

Margaret was a homemaker at heart. To her, a clean and tidy home, taking care of her family's laundry, making wholesome meals were all very important. For many years, she was a faithful carpooler in support of her children's school transportation needs.

Since 2019, Margaret lived close to family in northern Michigan, under the compassionate care of Hospice of Michigan & the Orchard Creek Supportive Care staff. During this time, she enjoyed fellowship with other residents, activities inside and outside the facility, field trips to Moomer's for ice cream, desserts on demand and visits from family, hospice volunteers and friends from out of town.

Margaret is survived by her children Anne P. Noah, Robert L. Stivender (Mary) and Carole M. Stivender. She is also survived by nine grandchildren including Christopher Noah (Christina Ricci), Kelsey Noah Styler (Austin), Corrie Noah, Jesse Stivender (Emma), Talia Stivender, Casey Stivender, Anthony Rice, Maria
Rice, Elisa Rice, and two great-grandchildren Zachary Styler and Evangeline Styler.

Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Donald L. Stivender, her parents, Francis P. and Marian (Horning) Lourim; her brothers John F. Lourim, Robert Lourim, Thomas W. Lourim and her sister Mary J. Lourim.

The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 9th , 2025 at St. Hugo of the Hills stone chapel at 10am. Visitation will occur there at the church at 9:30am. Inurnment will follow at the Columbarium immediately after mass.
