Traverse City – Margaret Irene Swanson, 94, of Traverse City passed away January 1, 2016, at the Traverse Victorian Senior Living.
Margaret was born in East Kasson Township on February 3, 1921 to the late Harvey and Julia (Christiansen) Ruegsegger.
She married Dale Brown on August 28, 1940. Dale, and son Larry, were killed in a boating accident on Little Traverse Lake on June 6, 1950. Margaret married Alfred Swanson on May 24, 1952. She was employed at Munson Medical Center as a Medical Stenographer for 31 years.
Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband Dale Brown and son Larry Brown; husband Alfred Swanson; sisters Fern Benson, Beatrice Swanson, Iola Cameron, Lucille Hall, Doris Juillet, Wilma Payne and Carol Ruegsegger; brothers Ward Ruegsegger and Reverend Lester Ruegsegger.
She is survived by her son Kenneth (Mary) Brown of Traverse City; grandsons Larry Brown of Grand Rapids and Chad Brown of Elizabethtown, KY.
A visitation will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2016 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on January 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Reverend Dale Kessler will officiate the service.
