Empire - Margaret D. Tare, 96, of Empire passed away November 10, 2012 at Bortz Health Care.
Margaret was born on January 6, 1916 in Johnstown, PA to the late Anthony and Anna (Mathis) Tertinsky.
On June 20, 1942 Margaret married the late Peter Tare.
Margaret was a devout member of St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Empire for the past 25 years. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and travelling. Margaret loved to learn, and earned her high school degree in her 60's. She was a passionate volunteer for Father Fred, Glen Lake Schools, Glen Lake Library, St. Philip Catholic Church, the American Red Cross, the Osteopathic Hospital, and the Empire Senior Center. At the age of 92 she received the Senior Citizen of the Year award.
Margaret is survived by her children Darlene (Michael) Zeilinski of Gig Harbor, WA, Leonard (Cecilia) Tare of Chesterville Township, MaryAnn Stuller of Warsaw, IN, and Kathy (Kent) Wiejaczka of Empire, 17 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Peter, brothers Albert and Paul, and sisters Anna, Helen, Mary, Rose and Florence.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, November 12, 2012 at St. Philip Neri at 12 noon with visitation beginning at 10:30 am.
Interment will take place at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 12 noon.
Memorial contributions in memory of Margaret may be directed to the Father Fred Foundation.
