Obituary

Margaret Elsie "Peggy" Tyrell, of Traverse City died Saturday, November 6, 2021.

Peggy was born January 25, 1920 to the late William W. Gleason and Elsie Ellen (Hillman) in Sandusky, Michigan. She, along with her three older sisters, enjoyed a happy childhood growing up on the dairy farm owned by her parents. She met Donald A. Tyrell, also from the Sandusky area and they married on December 30,1942 in Blackstone, Virginia.

Peggy was a wonderful wife and mother who was selfless in caring for her family and her home. She loved listening to music and was always humming a song. She and Don even formed a neighborhood dance club so that they could have monthly dances with their friends. She also enjoyed playing golf,cards and sitting out on the deck while having a cookout with her family.

She had quiet strength, a quick sense of humor, rarely complained and even in her later years was inquisitive about the day to day happenings of her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and friends.

Peggy was preceded in death by her husband Donald, their son Donald and her three sisters, Mary Jane "Molly" Campbell, Elizabeth "Betty" Blank, and Sarah Jane "Sally" McCadie.

Peggy is survived by her children Larry (Carol) Tyrell, Thomas (Priscilla) Tyrell and Meg (Jim) Redmond, grandchildren Jill Pruett, Scott (Kelly) Tyrell, Tracey (Jason) Breitmeyer, Lynette (Jim) Griffin, Denise Lukas, Leah (Scott) Stuhr, Aaron Tyrell, Donald (Miriam) Tyrell , Kimberly (Kyle) Caldecott, Krista (Erik) Gregersen, Blake Redmond and 23 great grandchildren.

The family requests memorials go to Hospice of Michigan.
