Marian Alice Keeder, 72, of Traverse City passed peacefully on Monday, May 20, 2019 at her home. Marian was born on July 31, 1946 in Macomb, Illinois to the late E. Wayne and Hazel (Hutchinson) Porter. She graduated from Suttons Bay High School in 1964. She married the love of her life David C. Keeder on September 16, 1967 in Suttons Bay. He preceded her in death on March 8, 2007.
Marian enjoyed her job as a business manager with Traverse Bay Area Intermediate School District. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She was a member of the church's financial team. Marian and her entire family made a tradition of being involved and attending the National Cherry Festival. In her free time Marian enjoyed knitting, gardening, and watching movies. She maintained friendships with many of her high school classmates. She will be remembered for her caring and welcoming personality. Above all spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, was her greatest joy.
Marian is survived by a son and a daughter; Kevin (Kristi) Keeder and Julie (Robert) Kisling. Also surviving are her grandchildren; Jacob, Rebekah, Brendon, Sammy, Jessie (Zack), Taylor, Isaac, Kyle and Madison; two great-grandchildren; Allison and Ayden, as well as a very special friend, Midge (John) Werner.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister; Wayne Porter and Brenda Porter.
Friends are welcome to visit with Marian's family from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 28, 2019 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., Traverse City, MI 49684.
A funeral service honoring Marian will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 29, 2019 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Rev. Bruce Lucas will officiate. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery in Lake Leelanau.
