TRAVERSE CITY — Marian Alice Sage, 89, of Traverse City passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2011, at Munson Medical Center.Marian was born May 16, 1922, in Lansing to the late Wesley C. and Harriet Alice (Warren) Noe. She married Leon J. Sage on Feb. 14, 1942, in Charlotte.Marian grew up in the Lansing and Charlotte area, but lived much of her adult life in Central Lake and taught in the Central Lake Schools for many years. Children, traveling, gardening and art gave her the most pleasure. Early in her retirement she traveled to many countries throughout the world. She continued her work with children through her volunteer work with the Learning Partners here in Traverse City.Surviving Marian are her children, Bonnie Miser, David (Nadine) Sage and Lynn (David) Starkey; grandchildren Kevin, Michael and Maureen; great-grandchildren Michael, Olivia and Alex; a sister, Catherine (David) Haupt; sister-in-law Lois Noe; and many nieces and nephews and friends. She leaves behind many friends at Woodside Senior Apartments.Marian is preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother Carl Noe; and son-in-law Stan Miser.Visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 8, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held for Marian at Woodside Senior Apartments, 3016 Lafranier Road, at 4 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 9.
