Marianne Zucco, 88, of Traverse City, MI, passed away peacefully on October 26, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on December 18, 1935, in New Kensington, PA, the only child of Della and Sam Evankovich. Marianne was a devoted wife, exceptional mother, and cherished friend.
Marianne's early years were marked by her intelligence and compassion. She attended Plum High School in PA, where she was an active member of the National Honor Society. After graduating from high school, she attended nursing school which reflected her caring nature.
In 1955, Marianne married her high school sweetheart, Victor Zucco, and they embarked on a lifelong journey together. They lived in various cities, including Chicago, IL, East Lansing, MI, Bellaire, MI, Sanibel Island, enriching their lives with diverse experiences and friendships.
Marianne was a woman of many talents and passions. She was an accomplished interior decorator, a skilled artist, and a dedicated neighborhood nurse. Her love for books led her to work as a librarian, where she shared her passion for literature with others.
Outside of work, Marianne enjoyed sports and outdoor activities, playing tennis and golf. Her adventurous spirit took her to more than 100 countries, making her a well-traveled and knowledgeable individual. Traveling was her passion along with learning the history of the locations she visited.
Marianne was known for her unwavering integrity and dry sense of humor. Marianne's exceptional ability to bring laughter and harmony into any situation endeared her to everyone she met.
Marianne is survived by her three children: Mark S. Zucco, Lynne (Mark) Riedy and Brad Zucco, and her four Grandchildren; Alex (Kaitlin) Zucco, Grace Zucco, Brad (Claudia) Riedy and Brian (Alyssa) Riedy. In addition to her immediate family, Marianne adored her great-grandchildren: Emma, Lucas, John, Ben and Raymond.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Victor, who passed away on February 15, 2020.
Marianne's legacy of love, laughter, and kindness will forever be cherished by her family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to be made to Samaritas Senior Living of Traverse City, 4354 Mt. Hope Road, Williamsburg MI, 49690.
