Marie Katherine Aleo

Marie Katherine Aleo, 91, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2021.

Marie was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Frank and Mary Sindoni (Stellato) on May 3, 1929. She graduated from Everett High School in the Boston area. She was a lover of all the arts, especially classical dance, and studied at the famed School of American Ballet in New York City. She married Anthony Aleo on November 13, 1955 in Everett, Massachusetts, and was married until his death in 1991.

She performed and taught dance in the New York City area and at the June Claire School of Dance on Long Island. In 1963 she moved to South Florida where she owned and operated The Allen Dance Studio in Miramar, Florida. She was an avid traveler and explorer, visiting all parts of Europe, China and beyond. She was an active volunteer and community organizer as well as a loving mother and wife. She retired to Denmark, Maine in 1990 and moved to Traverse City, Michigan in 2015 to be with her son and family.

Marie Aleo is preceded in death by her husband Anthony Aleo, brother Charles Sindoni and sister Bunny Hanson.

Marie is survived by her son Keith Aleo and his wife Angela Lickiss Aleo, and her granddaughter Alexandra Aleo; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins who she was close with and remained in contact with for her entire life.

Memorial services will be held at a later time. In lieu of flowers, gifts can be made to the American Cancer Society and/or the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in her name.
