Marie K. Keaton
Traverse City – Marie Kathryn Keaton, age 93, of Traverse City, passed away Monday, August 29, 2016 at Munson Hospital in the loving care of her family.
Marie was born July 22, 1923 to Aloysius and Nellie (Courtade) Courtad, in Cleveland, Ohio. Marie lived in Cleveland, OH prior to moving to Traverse City when she was ten years old. She was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Eagles and a life member of VFW Post 2780.
Marie is survived by her brother and sisters; Al Courtad (Murna), Patricia Franke, Geraldine Smith, Joan Romis, and Delores Kress, as well as her daughters; Barbara "Bobbie" Stallone of Cadillac, MI, Jean (John) Breithaupt of Traverse City, MI, Judy Ockert of Cadillac, MI, Lois "Loi" (Lyle) Livasy of Crossville, TN, Tammy (Randy) Yost of Anchorage, AK, and Lynn Leabo of Lake Ann, MI. Marie is also survive by her twelve grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and six great great grandchildren.
Marie was preceded in death by her parents; Aloysius and Nellie, husbands; Edward Ockert, Louis Leabo, Al Keaton, and special friend Gayle Hooton, brothers; Kenneth Courtad, Richard Courtad, Donald Courtad, Bernard Courtad, and Eugene Courtade, sister; Eileen Newman, and infant daughter; Margaret E. Ockert.
A visitation for Marie will take place from 4:00 – 8:00 pm on Tuesday, September 6, 2016 with a vigil rosary service at 7:00 pm. Visitation will also take place from 10:00 – 11:00 am on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at the St. Francis Catholic Church with funeral services beginning at 11:00 am with Reverend Kenneth Stachnik officiating. A luncheon will immediately follow the service on Wednesday at the church. Graveside services will also take place on Wednesday, September 7, at 1:30 pm at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to The Father Fred Foundation, 826 Hastings St, Traverse City, MI 49686, and the St. Francis Food Pantry, 1025 S Union Street, Traverse City, MI 49684.
