TRAVERSE CITY — Marie N. (Meldrum) Kulibert, 86, of Traverse City, passed away at Munson Hospice House July 31, 2011, after inheriting complications from the Alpine Park fire.Marie was born in Ann Arbor Aug. 15, 1924, to Gordon C. and Nellie (Wells) Meldrum. She graduated from Eastern Michigan University with a bachelor's degree in Social Science. In 1973, she pursued a librarian position at the Traverse City Library, where she worked until her retirement in 1990.Marie was a member of First Congregational Church, the American Library Association, American Association of University Women, VFW and American Legion Auxiliaries and often volunteered at the Grand Traverse Heritage Center. She had deep interests in crafts, amateur photography and history.Marie is survived by her two daughters, Diane (Jim) Harrington, of Traverse City, and Carole Lee Luna, of Orange County, Calif.; two nieces, Janet Swanson and Lynn Rolison; nephew, Craig Meldrum; four grandchildren, Jamie, Jennifer, Charity and Eric; and seven great-grandchildren.She was preceded in death by her parents, Lt. Col. Gordon and Nellie Meldrum; son, Stephen A. Kulibert; two brothers, Allen R. Meldrum and Staff Sgt. Richard G. Meldrum; sister, Mabel Kobane; two grandsons, Richard E. Coate and Forrest E. Placer.A memorial service for Marie will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 6, with visitation one hour prior at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. The Rev. Dr. Gary Hogue will be officiating.
