Marie Rizzio

INTERLOCHEN – Marie Virginia Rizzio (Aguzino), 83, beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother went home to be with her Lord at May 23, 2012.

Marie's recipe for a wonderful life? One part love, one part family, one part food and one part happy memories. Mix thoroughly with family and friends.

With her love of cooking, Marie won dozens of local and national cooking contests. Since her retirement, she turned entering cooking contests into a passion and earned many prestigious honors for her wins in major national contests including the National Chicken, Quaker Oats, and also placed in two Pillsbury Bake-offs in Orlando, Florida.

Marie also had numerous recipes published in national magazines, including Country Woman, Better Homes and Gardens and Family Circle. Marie enjoyed reading, walking, entertaining and fishing.

A long-time member of the Central United Methodist Church, she served on the community lunch program where she took everyday foods and created unique and special meals for the needy.

Marie was the beloved wife of Richard Sr., and dearest mother of Richard M. Rizzio Jr (Joanie) of Troy, Michigan; Kenneth J. Rizzio (Barb) of Holland, Michigan; Lynn M. Kirkpatrick (Ted) of Gwinn, Michigan and Michael G. Rizzio (Patti) of Marquette, Michigan. Grandmother of Kathy (Rob), Sarah, Chris (Kaleigh), Lindsey (Nathan) and Eric. Great-grandmother of Derek and Jacob. Dear sister of Bea Anderson of Rockford, Michigan and numerous nieces and nephews.

Born December 10, 1928, in Chicago, Illinois, Marie is preceded in death by her parents, Michael and Virginia Aguzino.

Thanks to the staff at Munson Medical Center and Munson Hospice House for their tender and loving care of Marie in her final days.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Munson Healthcare Hospice House.

There will be a celebration of life ceremony on June 16, 2012 at 11:00 am at the Central United Methodist Church.
