Marilee Jean Boehm, 78, passed away, as a result of complications associated with Parkinson's disease, on August 14, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Marilee was born on February 8, 1938 to Elliott E. Jacobsen and Gladys D. (Stonehouse) Jacobsen in Traverse City.
Marilee graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1956 and went on to graduate from Edward W. Sparrow Nursing School, in Lansing, MI, in 1959 earning her Registered Nurse credentials. In the summer of 1960 she married Jack A. Boehm of Traverse City, MI. Together they had three children, Lincoln, Lisa and Christopher.
As a teenager, Marilee attended the Interlochen Center for the Arts summer session for two years, during which time she became an accomplished pianist and artist. In addition to her long time love for music and painting Marilee enjoyed many other creative outlets including: sewing, quilting, crocheting, knitting and culinary activities. She loved to share many of her creations with family and friends.
As a professional Registered Nurse, Marilee worked for Munson Medical Center, Edward W. Sparrow Hospital, Lansing General Hospital, General Motors (Oldsmobile Division), Ingham Medical Center and Wyeth Pharmaceuticals before deciding to be a stay at home mother.
Marilee is survived by her husband Jack Boehm of Traverse City, daughter Lisa Boehm of Traverse City; sons Lincoln Boehm of Traverse City, Christopher Boehm of Traverse City; sister Janine (Sidney) Adams; brothers-in-law Gary F. Boehm and family, George P. Boehm and family.
Private family services have been held. A small informal get together for friends and family will be held at 11 a.m. on August 20, 2016 at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.
