Marilyn Louise Mero, passed away on August 30, 2020, at the age of 67 years, at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City, MI.,
She was born on May 18, 1953 to Robert and Lavinia (Schaub) Moss of Interlochen, Michigan. She was predeceased by her Father Robert Moss and Husband Phillip Mero. She graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1971 and she then attended and graduated from The Grand Rapids School of Cosmetology as well as waitressed as a second career.
She married Phillip Mero on June 27, 1980 in Lansing, MI. and made their home there until his death. Marilyn then moved to Houghton Lake, MI. where she was the owner of Hair Benders 2 Hair Salon for over 25 years! Marilyn's complete professional career as a hairdresser endured for 48 years and she is beloved by her clients/friends both in Lansing and Houghton Lake. Her oldest treasured client was 103 years old. Her clients knew her to always have a smile under any circumstances, she was a great listener and trusted confidant, she had spunk and never gave up, her sense of humor was a blessing to all. She would continually be flexible in her schedule to cover her clientele needs. And she had the patience of a saint in working with them. As she was a member of St. James Catholic Church, as well as being a longstanding member of the Eagles and Moose. She was an avid bowler. She enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends. She loved riding in a pontoon boat and enjoying her life on the canals and waters of the Houghton Lake area!
Although small in stature, she was infamously recognized in being an extremely hard worker. And she rose to any challenge life presented her, to overcome all the situations she faced. Known by her dedicated loyalty and an inborn ability to give so liberally of herself to others. Marilyn was always ready to help people, both family and friends, in any way she could and would do whatever it took to see people were well taken care of. In through both her time in support of others and her worldly possessions, not asking for anything in return. These were the life lessons that she learned from her Mother and Father.
Marilyn is survived by her Mother Lavinia (Schaub) Moss of Interlochen, MI., her siblings Sister Loretta (Moss) and Dave Pratt of Lansing, MI., her Brother's Gary and Melissa (Fender) Moss of Lady Lake, FL., Glenn and Martha (Elhart) Moss of Cass City, MI., as well as nieces and nephews Robert and Rylee Pratt, Danny and Laura Pratt, Sarah (Pratt) and Lewis Harrison, and Julius and Hattie (Christie) Moss, Logan and Emily Schendel and Emily Hansen.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 am Tuesday, September 8 at St. Patrick Catholic Church in Traverse City, with a visitation 1 hour prior to ceremony. Social distancing practices and masks will be required by law. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Lansing, MI on Wednesday, September 9 at 1 pm.
