Marilyn J. Rice age 76 passed away due to a tragic accident on September 6th 2021. Marilyn was born in Kingsley Michigan on July 29th 1945. She was the youngest daughter of Joe and Francis Reamer (Endres).
Marilyn attended Hannah High School and later received her Cosmetology certificate. She began work at Ellen's Beauty Salon in 1964.
Marilyn spent the last 60 years tending to her long-term customers while working out of her home salon. She often said she would retire when her last customer passed away. It is with heavy heart that she passed prior to them.
Marilyn along with her husband Rod purchased the Karlin Inn many years ago and made several friends during their ownership.
What Marilyn loved most was raising her 2 boys and watching them follow their dreams with constant love and encouragement. She also dearly loved her granddaughter Cari Jane whose middle name was named after Marilyn. She spent the last several years attending bingo at the VFW hall on Tuesday evenings, occasionally going to the casino, and playing cribbage, euchre and shuffleboard at the Senior Center, making many friends along the way.
A family get together wasn't complete without one of her famous deserts or highly requested potato salad. She loved tending to her flowers and taking her daily walks to stay fit.
Marilyn attended Saint Francis Church every Saturday evening at the 4 o'clock mass for many years. She sat in the same pew and prayed for her family's safety and guidance.
Marilyn enjoyed spending time with her brothers and sisters as they all remain very close and still live in the Traverse City area.
Marilyn is survived by her 2 son's Doug (Ricardo) and Tim (Nancy); Granddaughter Cari Jane (Angelic) and step grandchildren Eric (Rachael and new Great Granddaughter Eva), Macy, Amber and Jaime. She is also survived by her brothers, Ray (Betty) Reamer, Bob (Bettie Lou) Reamer; Sisters Rosie Duell, Doris Rodes and sister-in-law Laura Reamer and brother-in-law Roger (Carol) Rice and several nieces and nephews. Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rod, brother Ralph Reamer, brothers-in-law James Rodes and Raymond Duell.
The family would like to thank the first responders and emergency staff at Munson Hospital for their efforts to save our Mom during her final time with us.
A celebration of life for Marilyn will take place on September 10th 2021 at 3:00pm at Saint Francis Church with her favorite Father Don officiating. Visitation will take place from 2pm until the time of service.
From the Boys and Cari – Our Mom/Gma was our life, she was the kindest and most loving person who cared deeply for each of us. Mom encouraged all of us to be kind and treat others with respect. We all spoke to her almost daily, sharing stories and telling her how much we loved her. We often told her, a person's value in life is not what you have accomplished but the legacy you leave behind. Mom, your lessons were cut short and just know we listened and hope to live up to your expectations. We will never stop loving you.
