Marion E. Farr

Marion Farr, 85 completed her journey to be united with God and her loved ones on January 9, 2015. She was at the Grand Traverse Pavilions with family by her side. Marion was formerly of Petoskey prior to being a resident ot the Pavilions for the past 3 years. Marion was born January 13, 1929 in Detroit to Nicholas and Katherine (Popowits) Toth. She has a younger sister, Barbara Buschbacher, who resides in Green Bay, Wisconsin.

Marion received a degree in business administration from the Detroit Institute of Business and enjoyed her position as a secretary for a large Insurance Company in Detroit.

On June 15, 1950 Marion married her husband the late John Farr who served during World War II in the United States Navy. The St. Francis School playground in Petoskey was named after John for the extensive volunteer work he performed at the school. Marion was very proud of him and together they served the church, charities and school systems throughout the years.

Marion and John raised 2 daughters, Colleen Borghi of Clinton Township, MI. and Barbara Donaldson of Traverse City. She had a special spot in her heart for her son-in-law's who she loved very much, Bruce Donaldson and Ron Borghi. Marion had 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren who adored her. She was very involved in their lives and enjoyed taking part in their achievements. Angus McManus, great grandson, loved to push Great Grandma in her wheelchair down the halls of the Pavilions. It was a challenge to steer!

Marion was like a shining diamond. She gave great light, compassion and kindness to all her family and friends. She was described as an extremely generous lady with a heart full of love. She believed that everyone was inherently good and she could see the good in the lives she touched.

Marion was so very grateful to the staff at the Grand Traverse Pavilions for the wonderful care they gave her. The family extends great love and gratitude to the staff, viewing them as a house of angels for Marion and all those in their care. Marion kept a bowl full candy at all times for the staff.

Marion will truly be missed by her family and all those who knew her. Her beautiful smile and the love in her precious heart remains eternal.

A private memorial service will be held in the spring when Marion will join her husband John in everlasting peace at St. Francis Cemetery in Petoskey. The family also extends sincere gratitude and appreciation to the Reynolds-Jonkhoff funeral Home for their compassionate guidance as Mom completed her journey to our Lord.
