Marion M. Forsman, 94, of Traverse City, Michigan passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at Munson Hospice House. Marion Shoemaker was born on August 27, 1929, in Wyandotte, Michigan to the late Leon and Viola (Bosman) Shoemaker. She married the love of her life, Robert Forsman on October 20, 1949. He preceded her in death on January 31, 1995.

Marion and Bob along with Harold and Pat Shoemaker owned and operated Swan Vally Marina on Lake Charlevoix in East Jordan for nine years. She moved to Traverse City in 1975 and was employed by Old Kent Bank for over 20 years, retiring in 1994. She was a faithful member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Marion enjoyed traveling, she spent many winters in Gulf Shores, Alabama and later in Panama City, Florida. She loved dancing and sports, especially watching her grandchildren's events. She truly enjoyed the Garfield Commons Social Club, playing cards and BINGO often, as well as their potluck meals and pancake breakfasts. Above all, spending time with her precious family was her greatest joy.

Marion is survived by two daughters and a son; Vicki Kehl, Bob (Sandy) Forsman and Mary Ann (Roger) Wilsey and six grandchildren; Jessica, Katie, Nikki, John, Matt and Kristen as well as seven great-grandchildren; Cy, Jakob, Brynn, Alexia, William, Mitchell, Jack and Becka. Also surviving are a sister and a brother; Lorraine Manhard and Harold (Pat) Shoemaker and two sisters-in-law, Jacqueline Shoemaker and Jan Shoemaker.

She was preceded in death by a son, Gerald Forsman, two sisters; Arlene Pfeiffer and Shirley McGovern and two brothers; Leonard Shoemaker and Arnold Shoemaker. Also predeceasing Marion are a son-in-law, Tim Kehl and a granddaughter, Melissa Kehl.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m., with visitation starting at 10:00 a.m., on Friday, January 26, 2024, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, 1025 S. Union St., Traverse City, Michigan. Rev. Liby Valiyaveettil Joy will officiate.
