Marion Marcella Grueber died on Wednesday April 1, 2015, and was born on March 7, 1929, in Traverse City, the daughter of Paul and Genevieve (Spoor) Meyers.
Marion was employed at the Traverse City State Hospital for 31 years, retiring in 1989.
Marion was married to Norman Arthur Grueber on February 8, 1947. She loved her family dearly and enjoyed cooking many delicious dishes for them. Holidays were especially important to her, and everyone gathered at their home to partake of family time and traditional foods. Future good cooks trained at her side. She was a talented painter and we treasure the creations she made for us.
Marion was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Her father-in-law, LCC Grueber, was pastor there for many years, as well as chaplain of the State Hospital.
Marion is survived by her 5 daughters and their husbands: Gayle Lynn (John) Popa, Catherine Diane (Jim) Roosa, Kristine Louise (Brian) Estus, Jan Michelle (Dale) Popa, Kimberly Sue (Michael) Drury, 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, Dorothy Limoges, Marilyn Grueber, and Harriet Grueber, and many other loving family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman, on March 17, 2009, also her parents, brothers and sisters, Richard Henry (Doris) Meyers, Rachel (Robert) Franke, Myrna (R.Z.) Ford, Art(Jean) Meyers, Phyllis (Al) Simmons, father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. LCC Grueber and Martha Grueber, brothers-in-law: LaVerne Grueber, Ralph Grueber, Harold Grueber, Darrell Limoges, Jack Southern, sisters-in law, Doris Post and Rhoda Southern.
Funeral services for Marion will take place at 11a.m. on Saturday April 4, 2015, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Traverse City, with a visitation held from 10-11 a.m. Pastor Robert Zagore will officiate. Burial will take place at Memorial Gardens in Traverse City at a later time. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Church or the Alzheimer's Association.
