TRAVERSE CITY — Marion Loveland passed away Wednesday, June 22, at Tendercare of Traverse City one week short of her 100th birthday. She was born June 29, 1911, at Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada, to Daniel O'Handley and Christina MacIntyre. When Marion was 12-years-old she lost her mother to cancer, and she became the caregiver of the household. Shortly after, Marion took a job as an attendant at Traverse City State Hospital. A short time later, she married Clarence Loveland, of Traverse City. Together they raised a family of four children, Eloise, Loreen, Bob and Bill, all of Traverse City.Marion was a terrific cook and the hub of the family. Her family gathered around and enjoyed her many holiday dinners and Fourth of July picnics. Marion was such a caregiver; no one ever left her home hungry.
