Marion Lorraine Tremain, 95, of Traverse City passed away Monday, January 2, 2017 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Marion was born on Thursday, November 10, 1921 to Harold and Laura (Cooper) Hendricks in Flint, MI. She graduated from Mt. Morris High School in 1939. Marion moved to Traverse City in 1944 with her first husband, Harry Wheelock. Later, after the death of Harry she married Otis Tremain at a service in Traverse City. She worked at the State Hospital and retired after 26-1/2 years. She also worked at Munson Medical Center for six years.
Marion was a strong person who was loving and compassionate. Her family was her everything. She was a collector of dolls and enjoyed needlework. She was a gifted seamstress and made wedding dresses for many of her family members. She was a member of the First Church of the Nazarene and the Nazarene World Missionary Church.
Marion is survived by her son Thomas (Mary) Wheelock; 7 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren and 6 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by husbands Harry Wheelock and Otis Tremain; daughter Marian Rickerd; mother Laura (Cooper) Hendricks; father Harold Hendricks; sister Lucille Dixon; brother Francis Hendricks; and grandson Scott Cole.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 6, 2017 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2017 at 2 p.m. at First Church of the Nazarene, with visitation beginning at 1 p.m. Pastor Rick Rice will officiate services.
