Marion "Vickie" Victoria Allers, born August 27, 1918 in Northport, MI, died October 10, 2014 in Traverse City, MI.

At 3.5 pounds Vickie was a fighter from birth. She was kept warm in a cigar box packed with cotton and warmed by bricks placed on the stove. She grew up in Northport on the family cherry farm.

On December 23, 1938 Vickie married Donald L. Porter. Together they had 4 children. With two small daughters they lived on the family farm, in a tiny cabin which was built by Vickie's father. With a growing family they moved to Traverse City.

On September 9, 1959 Vickie married Charles Allers. Together they had a daughter Charlene.

Vickie enjoyed being outside and working in her yard. She loved her home of 71 years. She shoveled snow and mowed her lawn into her 90's. Vickie was a mom to many with love for all.

Surviving Vickie, is her daughter, Barbara Noel, daughter Phyllis (Archie) Pouzar, son, Donald (Kathleen) Porter, daughter, Charlene (Brian Kevwitch) Largent-Kevwitch, daughter-in-law, Janet Porter, 15 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 4 great great grandchildren, special family friends Judy and Dick Jennett and many other loving family members and friends.

Vickie was preceded in death by her husband Charles N. Allers, son Larry M. Porter, parents Harry O. and Minnie Kelcherman, brothers, Harry "Web" and Warren Kelcherman.

A special thank you to Tim and Amanda Largent for their wonderful care of Grandma. Also, thank you to Emily, Christine, Rhonda and Dorothy from the Grand Traverse Commission on Aging and to all the angels of Hospice of Michigan. With all your help mom was able to stay at her home.

On Monday, October 13, from 2pm until 7pm friends and family are welcome to stop by the family home on Third Street.
