Marjorie Kathryn Anderson of Traverse City passed away Sunday, August 20, 2017 at the age of 88, at the Grand Traverse Pavilions with her family at her side.
Marjorie was born in Rochester, MN to the late David and Minerva (Herr) Newcombe and raised in Acme, Michigan. She married Jack D. Anderson in Traverse City, MI and together they raised their family.
Marjorie is preceded in death by her parents, sister Helen Reichhardt, granddaughter Jennifer Kern and dear friend Kay Gavan.
Surviving Marjorie is her husband of 66 years, Jack; her children, Debra (Mark) Kosowski, Linda (Edward) Kern, Connie (Steven) Holland, Kathryn (James) Kosniewski, Jeffrey (Susan) Anderson; her nephews Thomas (Cindy) Reichhardt, John (Carol) Reichhardt; grandchildren, Jarard Anderson, Stephan Anderson, Jessica Holland, Kathryn Thurston (Holland), Janice Brown (Kern), Jason Kern, Lisa Kosniewski, Matthew Kosniewski, Kara Kosowski, Kristin Newton (Kosowski); great grandchildren, Molly, Spencer, Grace, Jaxxon, Caden, Ethan; lifelong friend Charlotte Stevens, and many other family members and friends.
Marge and her family spent many years downstate, before returning to Traverse City to live. She retired as a travel advisor for AAA of Michigan Ann Arbor Branch. She enjoyed traveling, camping, flower gardening, water aerobics, playing cards, winter trips to Florida, many family gatherings, and time with her friends. Marge was a member of the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church. She was an active reunion committee member for the Traverse City Central High School Class of '47 and recently celebrated her 70th class reunion. Marge was an initiator of Acme reunions for several years and enjoyed keeping in touch with many old friends. She enjoyed a large circle of friends her entire life.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 23, 2017 from 3-7 pm at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. A memorial service will be held at the Traverse Bay United Methodist Church on Thursday August 24, at 11 am with a visitation held one hour prior. Rev. Kathryn Snedeker will officiate.
