Marjorie Eckert, age 98, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 31, 2025 with family at her side.
She lived in several locations in the Up North and the UP. She was a good mother to her children and their friends and spouses. She was a penny pincher which allowed us money to afford vacations. She really enjoyed riding in the car, blue skies with white puffy clouds and all animal life, except maybe squirrels. She was a diehard Presbyterian and attended almost every week. She was married to Max Eckert in 1947 and lived most of their lives in Dearborn, MI and moved to TC in 2008. They were married for 62 years until his death. She was a jogger in her mid years and a walker till the end. In the end she repeated, "I am 98 years old and have lived a good life. Lord I am ready, willing and want to go."
Marge was preceded in death by her husband, Harold "Max" Eckert; son, Donald Eckert; sister, Virginia Irish; and parents, Menno & Ruth (Larsen) Otterbein.
She is survived by her children, Keeta (David) Beaubien, Kurtis (Evelyn) Eckert; grandchildren, Teresa Eckert, Jacob Eckert; and great grandchildren, Caleb and Anya.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 27, 2025 at The Presbyterian Church of Traverse City, 701 Westminster Rd., Traverse City, MI. Marge's remains will be inhumed in the church's Remembrance Garden.
