TRAVERSE CITY — Marjorie F. Fox, 96, of Traverse City, died Sunday afternoon, April 1, 2012, at Grand Traverse Pavilions. Born Oct. 20, 1915, in Frances, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Thomas and Ambie (Moore) Fuller. On Dec. 18, 1931, in Shawneetown, Ill., she married Richard W. "Bud" Fox, who preceded her in death on May 11, 2006. Marjorie and Bud moved from Arkansas to Detroit, where they owned and operated a sheet metal fabricating business. After selling that business she and Bud moved to Ann Arbor, where they built and managed student apartments. They also built the original Fox Haus Motor Lodge in Traverse City. Marjorie enjoyed spending time with family at their home on Old Mission Peninsula, an area which she dearly loved. She enjoyed casting for rainbow trout from her deck, paddle board rides along East Bay, gardening and hunting for morels. Marjorie's kitchen was almost always abuzz, whether canning, baking or cooking pork barbecue on the deck. Marjorie was also a talented quilter, and she enjoyed the camaraderie and friendship of the Pine Needlers quilting group. She was a longtime member of the First Congregational Church. Left to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Betsy Fox, of Traverse City; grandchildren, Steven R. (Susan) Fox, of Traverse City, and Michael G. (Carmen) Fox, of Ann Arbor; great-grandchildren, Abigail, Sara, Evan and Caroline; sister, Hazel (Bill) Miles, of Nashville; brother, William Fuller, of Valparaiso, Ind.; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by siblings, Dorothy Fuller, Alan Fuller, Clyde Fuller, Mary Applegate and Ruby Simpkins. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday, April 5, 2012, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012, at 11 a.m., at the First Congregational Church in the Howard R. Towne Chapel, with the Rev. Jeff Goodwin officiating. Burial will be in Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens. In remembrance of Marjorie, memorials may be directed to the First Congregational Church or to the Grand Traverse Pavilions.
