Marjorie E. Power, 97, of Traverse City passed away peacefully at Cordia at Grand Traverse Commons. Marjorie Tefft was born on May 30, 1919 in Ypsilanti, Michigan to the late Forrest and Erma (Baker) Tefft. She was married to Thomas Power, he preceded her in death. During World War II, Marjorie worked in the bomber plant at Willow Run she later received her Master's Degree from Eastern Michigan University. Marjorie was an educator and she had been employed with Wayne Community Schools of Wayne, Michigan, as a reading teacher and consultant, retiring in 1970 after over 25 years of service. After retirement, Marjorie and Tom moved to their U.P. home in De Tour Village bringing her closer to sister, Eleanor, she later moved to Traverse City.
Marjorie is survived by her three nephews and a niece; Greg (Donna Folgarelli-Fisher) Fisher of Traverse City, Jeff Blackburn of Charlotte, Larry Clayton of Belleville and Linda Clayton of Ypsilanti.
She was preceded in death by her two sisters; Doris Jean Clayton and Eleanor Amy Albers as well as a nephew, David Lewis Blackburn.
In accordance with Marjorie's wishes cremation has taken place. Burial of her cremated remains will take place at a later date in Highland Park Cemetery of Ypsilanti Township.
