Obituary

TRAVERSE CITY — Marjorie J. Robison, 91, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at Munson Hospice House, after suffering a stroke a week earlier.Marjorie was born at the family farm in Jamestown, Ohio, to the late John and Novia (Irvin) Robison on March 31, 1919. She attended Bowersville, Ohio, schools and graduated from Jefferson Township High School. Following high school and during World War II, she worked at a factory and machined parts for bombsights. Following the war, Marjorie graduated from Miami Valley Hospital School of Nursing in Dayton, Ohio, and subsequently pursued her nursing career at several hospitals before becoming Director of Nursing at Greene Memorial Hospital, Xenia, Ohio.A woman of great Christian faith, character and values, Marjorie was an active member of the Bethany Baptist Church until its closing, and then attended Central United Methodist Church. There she was a member of Senior Fellowship and Yoke Fellowship #2. She belonged to Christian Women's Club for years, and was a dedicated member of the Grand Traverse Republican Women's Club.Surviving Marjorie is her beloved sister Reva Bales. They were great friends, who enjoyed traveling together and reminiscing about growing up on the farm. Marjorie had a true love of life — her family, her many dear friends and neighbors were always remembered with cards, notes or a phone call. Her personal gift to all was unconditional love and friendship.Marjorie had numerous nieces and nephews, John (Mary) Bales, of Traverse City, Daniel (Carole) Bales, of Romulus, Paul (Barbara-d) Robison, Robert Robison and Kenneth (Sue) Robison, all living near Jamestown, Ohio, James (Pricilla) Cooke, John (Becky) Cooke, Martha (John) Stafford, all of Springfield, Ohio, Jesse Pendleton (d) and Harry (Yolonda) Pendleton (d), of Clifton Forge, Va. Marjorie was preceded in death by her parents, and much-loved sisters Dorothy Cooke, Hazel Pendleton, and brother Vernon Robison.A visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home today, Oct. 22. Funeral services will take place at 4:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Central United Methodist Church with visitation held from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at the church. Pastor Chris Lane will be officiating.Burial will take place at Old Silver Creek Cemetery in Jamestown, Ohio.Memorial contributions may be directed to Central United Methodist Church Missions or Munson Hospice.Please sign Marjorie's online guestbook at www.reynolds-jonkhoff.com .
