Mark M. Beeman, 87, of Traverse City, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010, at Munson Medical Center.
Mark was born on March 17, 1923, to the late Joseph E. and Margie May (Gerrard) Beeman in Ionia. On June 22, 1947, Mark married the former Joan Carroll in Barryton.
Mark served his country honorably in the United States Army during World War II. He fought in the Battle of the Bulge.
After returning from his time in the service, Mark resumed his career as a barber, which he started in 1943.
In his spare time he enjoyed fishing, hunting, golfing and cribbage. He also was a member of the VFW Cherryland Post #2780 and Trinity Lutheran Church.
Mark is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joan; son, Jeffry Beeman, of Kalkaska; daughter, Markay Wait, of Charlotte, N.C; son, Larry (Julie) Beeman, of Charlotte, N.C.; five grandchildren, Toby Beeman, Justin Rosecrans, Alex Rosecrans, Jacob Beeman and Anna Beeman; five great-grandchildren; sister, Pearl (Paul) Price, of Florida; brother, Paul (Eunice) Beeman, of Portage; and brother, Enoch (Winifred) Beeman, of Hanover.
Mark was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Grace (Robert) Bregenzer.
Visitation for friends and family will be held on Tuesday, July 20, 2010, at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. The funeral service celebrating Mark's life will take place at Trinity Lutheran Church on Wednesday, July 21, 2010, at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Zagore officiating.
