Mark Hunter Harrington, 62, of Traverse City passed away October 15, 2021.

Mark was born on February 28, 1959 in Detroit to the late Guy and Delores Harrington. He grew up in the Detroit area and was one of nine children.

Mark honorably served in the United States Navy as part of the search and rescue team. He was a medic and cared for countless members of our active duty. He was discharged after 4 years of service and then continued to care for others for about 10 years as a registered Nurse.

Mark will be remembered for his love of family and the outdoors. He liked to camp, fish and hike. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and spoiling his two Australian Shepherds, Maximus and Simba. In his later years he also liked to watch history shows about WWII. Mark was a mentor to many and he will be greatly missed.

Mark is survived by his sons Desmond, Patrick (Jennifer) and Matthew; grandchildren Mattias Harrington, Hannah Chaddock and Myles Harrington.

The graveside service will be held at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens on Tuesday, October 19, 2021 at 2 pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the family or the funeral home to help with funeral expenses.
