Mark Allen Lakin, 87, passed away peacefully on July 22, 2023. Born on January 7, 1936, to Isadore and Rosalie (Barnett) Lakin in Chicago, IL. Survived by his wife of 60 years, Roberta (Harmison) Lakin. Loving father of Gregg (Angeles) and Brian, grandfather of Robert, Taylor, and Jeremy. Brother of Robert (Maryellen) Lakin, and Bonnie Kaplan (Michael - deceased). Preceded in death by sister, Donna (Joseph) Goldberg.
Mark was a dedicated urologist who practiced in Chicago's near west suburbs before retiring to Honor, Michigan. He was a graduate of the University of Illinois and completed his residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals. Mark was a student of American and International History, Geography, and the Civil War. He loved music and was an avid reader, especially classical music composition. He had a wide variety of knowledge that spanned beyond the globe. Mark's bedside manners, compassion for others, and extraordinary listening skills, offering reassurance to countless patients, family members and friends. Mark was very dedicated to family. A genuine gentleman whose moral fortitude served as a clinic on personal excellence. He will be missed by all who met him and our world is far lesser without him with us.
