Mark A. Ranshaw

Mark Allen Ranshaw fell asleep in death at the age of 46 on January 5, 2023 following a short battle with cancer. He was loved to the very end, surrounded by his devoted wife and his loving family.
Mark was born in Traverse City, MI on September 7, 1976, to Leonard and Janet (Pollington) Ranshaw. He graduated from Traverse City Central High School in 1995. He was raised as one of Jehovah's Witnesses and was baptized on October 10, 1998. Throughout his life he continued to be an active member of the Traverse City West Congregation.
Mark met the love of his life, Kristie Lynn Nichols, while attending the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses. They were later married on September 12, 1998, on Mackinac Island. As a husband, Mark was loyal and generous. He worked hard to give her a happy and full life.
Any friend of Mark's knew he loved to be active and outside surrounded by creation. He would spend his free time riding dirt bikes, snowmobiling, golfing, bird hunting, camping, fishing, hiking and just spending time outdoors. He used his construction skills and whatever other means he had to help others. Those are just some of the reasons he will be dearly missed by many!
Mark is survived by his wife of nearly 25 years, Kristie Ranshaw; his parents, Leonard and Janet Ranshaw; sisters Kim Hamilton and Lacy Jane (Thomas) McManus; Grandfather Lyle Pollington; Father-in-law and mother-in-law Charles (Buddy) and Sandie Nichols; Brother-in-law Scott Nichols; Sisters-in-law Hollie (Kelly) Locke and Lisa (Chris) Richter; also, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mark had numerous other aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends that he loved and who offered wonderful, caring support throughout his life and during his illness.
Mark was preceded in death by his brother, Lonnie Ranshaw, in 2015 and grandparents Ilford Ranshaw, Mabel Ranshaw Horning and Alice (Hall) Pollington.
A special thanks to the congregation and countless others who supported him and his wife through his battle with cancer. As well as to the compassionate staff of the Munson Hospice House who treated us like family. We will forever be grateful to them all.
A Memorial will be held on Saturday, January 21, 2023, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, 1950 Chase Road, Traverse City, Michigan at 1:00 p.m.
