Marshall F. Goers, age 79, of Traverse City, went to meet his Lord and Savior on Friday, October 17, 2025.

Born in Shawano, Wisconsin, and growing up on the family farm, Marshall always appreciated good cheese and anyone who listened to his stories of living in the Dairy State. Even more, he was one to offer a smile, handshake, and time to all those around him—whether he knew them or not.

With respect for the dairy industry, Marshall did work for a dairy processing cooperative in his younger years. Marshall then served others through various organizations, often working with people in their time of need or volunteering for worldwide charitable causes.

Marshall cherished his faith and family. Baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran church, he relied on the promises of God and supported Christ-centered ministries and schools throughout his life. He married Ruth Steingraber on September 30, 1972, and was blessed with three children. Marshall devoted himself to caring for his wife and children, sacrificing much for their good. His love for his four grandchildren brought about a move to Michigan in his latter years, years that created many wonderful memories.

Marshall was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest & Inez (Erdman) Goers, and twin brother, Martin Goers.

He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Ruth Goers; children, Laurie (Russ) Schultz, Trudie Goers (Randy Pierce), Michael (Bethany) Goers; grandchildren, Eden, Braden, Asher, Nolan; brother, David (Marilyn) Goers; sister, Jeanne Braatz; and many other extended family members.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the caretakers of Hospice of Michigan and Meadow Valley who took great care of Marshall in his final days. The family also thanks the people of Trinity Lutheran Church and School of Traverse City for their great help and kindness to Marshall.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 27, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 1003 S. Maple St., Traverse City. Family will welcome visitors an hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. A luncheon will follow. Burial will be held at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
