Martin Michael Evans, 59, of Traverse City passed away Monday, September 24, 2012, in Saginaw.
Martin was born on September 4, 1953 to the late James and Kathryn (Smith) Evans in Mason, MI.
He proudly served his country with the United States Army, stationed both overseas and on our nation's soil. Returning from duty in Germany, Marty entered into marriage with the former Lorelei McAda on June 19, 1976 in Copperas Cove, TX.
After his time in the service, Marty made his living with the U.S. Post Office in Michigan, Texas, and Wisconsin. Marty had a passion for the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping and boating. He could often be the first to succeed in mushrooming and had fond memories of the time spent searching for morels! Marty even enjoyed the chance to be outside tending to the landscape and garden or clearing the snow. Above all, Marty raised the spirits of those he came in contact with, always thought of others and will be remembered as a happy guy.
Martin is survived by his loving wife, Lorie, their daughter, Susan of Traverse City, sisters, Kathy (Ernie) Rokos, Sharon (Fred) Hunt, and Trudy (Charlie) Richardson, and extended family and friends.
Martin was preceded in death by his parents and a one brother, Jim Evans.
A memorial gathering will take place from 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, September 30, 2012 at the at his sister's home, 20030 Samara Trail, Lake Ann.
