Marvin Lynn Deemer, 83, Traverse City passed away on Monday, May 19, 2014 at his home. Marvin was born on March 12, 1931 in Inland Township, Michigan to the late Benjamin and Daisy (Fewins) Deemer. He was married to Sharon Rogers on August 13, 1955 at Bayview Wesleyan Church in Traverse City. Marvin proudly served his country as a U.S. Marine. He was a jack of all trades and he built his home himself. Spending time with family and working with his sons was his greatest joy. He loved being outside and was quite the woodsman. He attended Bayview Wesleyan Church.
Marvin is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Sharon, two daughters and two sons; Barbara (Steven) Shields, Carol Park, Jerry Deemer and James (Valerie) Deemer, eleven grandchildren; David (Carol) Shields, Katie (Michael) Purse, Charity (Travis) Duncan, Caleb Park, Christiana Park, Nick Deemer, Jesse Deemer, Dillon Deemer, Dane Deemer, Travis Deemer and Gabby Deemer, three great-grandchildren; Annie and Elliott Purse and Jordan Duncan. Also surviving are two brothers and a sister; Frank (Pat) Deemer, Denziel (Gaylee) Deemer and Martha Deemer.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister; John Deemer, Clare Deemer, Orson Deemer and Carol Palmer.
Friends are welcome to visit with Marvin's family on Friday, May 23, 2014 starting at 10:00 a.m. at Bayview Wesleyan Church, 720 Wayne St., Traverse City. A funeral service honoring Marvin will follow at 12:00 noon. Pastor Matt Mabey will officiate. Burial will follow in Inland Township Cemetery.
