Mary Bader slipped away last night Friday, December 17, 2021. She was born Mary Alice Miller in Maybee Michigan, the only daughter of Edwin and Viola. She grew up on the family farm in Maybee, Michigan. She graduated from St. Marys academy in Monroe and Mary Grove College in Detroit. While at Mary Grove, she met Glenn Bader. They married June 24, 1961. Together they raised two children, Kurt and Kristin.
Mary taught elementary school for thirty years. She received her master's degree from Michigan State University, and was named Traverse City Teacher of the year in 1986. Upon retirement from teaching, she became a docent at the Dennos Museum. This allowed Glenn and Mary enough free time to travel, which she enjoyed so much. Over the courses of their travels, they visited many countryside's and cities on five continents.
Mary is survived by her husband Glenn, Son Kurt (Cindy) of Davenport Iowa, Daughter Kristin (Myers) of Traverse City, Grandchildren Justin of Kansas City, Terra of Bettendorf, Olivia and Abby of Traverse city, Mary's sister in-law Marge Bader, Nephews Tom and Rob Bader, and Niece Jennifer Hannon, all of Minneapolis, Minnesota.
