Mary Jean (Comstock) Benedict

Traverse City - Mary Jean (Comstock) Benedict, 59, of Traverse City passed away June 30, 2016 in Gainsville, FL.

Mary was born on December 14, 1956 in Traverse City to Joseph and Jean (Nelson) Comstock. She graduated from Saint Francis High School in 1975. She was the office manager for Comstock Construction for 29 years before she pursued her passion for cosmetology. She received her cosmetology degree from Traverse City Beauty College and worked at Hope Village in their beauty shop. Mary loved animals especially her dogs and horses and in particular her Boxer Brew. She loved to garden and enjoyed the beauty of flowers.

On August 7, 1976 she married Timothy Benedict at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

Mary is survived by her husband of almost 40 years Timothy; son Joshua (Roberta "Bobbi") Benedict; daughter Bridgette Benedict; grandchildren Madison, Caden, Liam; mother Jean Comstock; mother-in-law June Benedict; siblings Michael (Marie) Comstock, Jody (Thomas) Bergman, Thomas (Calina) Comstock, Casey (Becky) Comstock, and Joseph Comstock II; and brothers-in-law Mark (Bernice) Benedict, Kent (Colleen) Benedict, and John (Nicole) Benedict.

Mary was preceded in death by her father Joseph Comstock and father-in-law Clark Benedict.

Mary's life will be celebrated with a funeral mass on Monday, August 8, 2016 at 11:00 am with visitation and the rosary beginning at 10:00 am at St. Francis Catholic Church. Father Kenneth Stachnik will officiate. Graveside services will follow at Oakwood Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in memory of Mary may be directed to the Cherryland Humane Society.
