Mary Alice Jodway, of Traverse City, passed away Wednesday, November 16, 2016 just two days short of her 96th birthday.
Mary was born on November 18, 1920 in Cleveland, OH to the late Willard G. and Ann (O'Brien) Steimel.
Mary graduated from Northport High School in 1938. She then earned her RN in 1940 and went to work for the Traverse City State Hospital.
On August 1, 1944 Mary and Earl H. Jodway united in marriage in Suttons Bay. Together they shared 54 years before he passed away in 2000.
Above all else Mary loved being with her family. She was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. She liked to travel and was able to visit many states, she loved to bake cookies for her loved ones and adored her Shih Tzu, Ollie her companion for many years.
Mary is survived by her children David (Gail) of Suttons Bay, Dianne (Ron) Alderink of Minnesota, Debra (Brian) Cairns of Traverse City, Dena (Mel) McClaire of Illinois, grandchildren; Tim, Tom, Ann, Jeff, Susan, Ryan, Aaron, Morgan, Milissa, Megan, and Mallory. Mary is also survived by 10 great-grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her brothers Willard and George Steimel.
A visitation for Mary will take place from 9:00 am – 11:00 am on Monday, November 21, 2016 at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home with a rosary service taking place at 11:00 am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 11:00 am with a visitation one hour prior. Father James Hayden will serve as officiant.
Mary will be laid to rest at Oakwood Cemetery next to her soulmate Earl.
