TRAVERSE CITY — Mary McShane Jones, of Concord, Mass., and Traverse City, entered into eternal life on Oct. 9, at Munson Medical Center after a brief illness. Mary was born May 6, 1932, in Kettering, Ohio, to Loretta and James McShane. She was educated at Good Samaritan Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and worked as a public health nurse. On Sept. 5, 1953, she married Wallace A. Jones, M.D., of Kettering, Ohio. Mary and Wally raised their four children in Concord, Mass. In 1989, they moved to Gunnison, Colo., where they enjoyed running a cattle ranch. Additionally, Mary was president of Gunnison's Women's Golf League and the Gunnison Garden Club. Mary was fiercely devoted to her family and enjoyed an extraordinary zest for life which spilled onto everyone she met. Mary leaves behind her twin sister, Martha McShane Nolting, of Cincinnati, Ohio; as well as her four children, Michael A. Jones (Anne), of Yarmouth, Maine, Margaret Jones Meeker (Walter), of Traverse City, Elizabeth Jones Linfoot (John), of Boerne, Texas, and Robert T. Jones (LeeEllen), of Concord, Mass.; and 13 grandchildren. A funeral Mass will be offered at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Mapleton, on Friday, Oct. 14, 2011, at 11 a.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. The Rev. Edwin Thome will serve as the celebrant.
