SUTTONS BAY — Mary Margaret Lee, 64, of Suttons Bay, passed away suddenly June 10, 2011, after battling cancer.Mary was born to Roy Smith and Valerie Smith (Brauer) in Grand Haven on March 25, 1947. On Oct. 6, 1991, she entered into marriage with Robert Lee in Leland. Mary was a 1965 graduate of Traverse City Senior High School.Mary enjoyed caring for and spending time with her pets and other animals on the farm. She could often be found working on crafts, such as knitting and crocheting, or working in her flower garden. There was nothing that she held closer to her heart than her family, especially her husband and grandchildren.Mary is survived by her husband, Robert, of Suttons Bay; two sons, Daniel McGovern, of Traverse City, and Gregory (Julie) McGovern, of Stilwell, Kan.; stepchildren, Sherry Slater and Scott Lee; six grandchildren, Daniel II, Brandon, Caitlin, Madeline, Sophia and Molly; brothers, Roy Smith, Jack Smith and Lee Smith; sisters, Cheryl Johnson and Linda Smith; mother, Valerie; and dear friends, Rick and Susan Hubbell.Mary was preceded in death by her father, Roy Smith; sister, Faith Robinson; and stepdaughter, Kristi McIntyre.Visitation will be held from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Thursday, June 16, at Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St., in Traverse City.
