Mary Marguerite Brown Franklin Miller, 87, of Interlochen, passed away on December 31, 2014.
She was born in Marion, MI. on Jan. 24, 1927 to Julia Etta (Bobo) & Chester Brown.
Raised in Marion, Mary went on to earn her RN degree from Sparrow Hospital School of Nursing in Lansing, MI. While working as a nurse Mary met and married her first husband, Eugene E. Franklin, father of her three children. Mary & Gene were able to purchase property on Green Lake near Interlochen, MI and build a small cottage. Gene passed away February 2, 1964 from bone cancer. In the early 1970's Mary met and married Frank E. Miller, Jr. They celebrated 42 years together. During that time, they built a larger home at Green Lake and were able to travel throughout the United States and the world. Mary's favorite activities involved cooking, entertaining, gardening and grandchildren.
Mary is survived by her husband Frank Edward Miller, Jr, children, Catherine Ann Franklin Dix, Jeffery Eugene (Janet) Franklin, & Thad Edwin (Kimberly) Franklin, Mary Keenan "Molly" (Tom) Miller Reid & Frank Kelly Miller, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Lewis & Eugene Brown, sister Emily Ida Brown Kibby, her first husband, Eugene E. Franklin, and son-in-law Carr B. "Pete" Dix.
Friends may call at 1:00 Saturday afternoon, January 3 at the Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home, 305 Sixth St, Traverse City. A celebration of life service will take place at 2:00 pm, that day, at the funeral home. A private burial will occur, at another time, at Greenwood Cemetery, Marion, MI.
