Mary Catherine Myers, 81 of Traverse City passed away peacefully the evening of August 16, 2023.

Mary was born on June 3, 1942 in Marion, OH to Clarence (Ted) and Josephine. She moved to Traverse City in 1967. She was a RN and held a bachelor's degree in nursing. Mary worked for many years at the State Hospital and finished her career caring for the elderly at Bortz Nursing home. She was a former President of the District Nurse's Association and was active in neighborhood campaign's for American Cancer and Diabetes Society.

A strong Catholic faith launched her career in nursing and was the foundation of her life. As a member of the St. Francis Catholic Church she proudly served as a Eucharistic Minster. In her spare time she enjoyed knitting and watercolor painting. She was always fond of dogs and enjoyed many four legged friends throughout her life. Most importantly Mary was a mother, grandmother and friend that put the needs of others before her own. Her character and energy will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her son Eric, her 7 grandchildren, her siblings (Pauline, Robert, Jim and Larry) and many other family members and friends. She is preceded in death by her parents, her sons Ivan, Stephen, and Kevin, and her brothers Bill and Ted.

A Memorial Mass will be held for her at 11am on Friday, September 15, 2023 at St. Francis Catholic Church with a visitation beginning 10:30. A private burial will follow at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery.
