North Augusta, SC - Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Sue Newberry, 82 of North Augusta, who entered into rest October 14, 2013, were conducted on Wednesday October 16, 2013 at the Posey Funeral Home in South Carolina. Entombment will take place on Friday, October 18, 2013 at 1:00 pm at Oakwood Catholic Cemetery in Traverse City, Mi.
Mrs. Newberry was a native of Mt. Solon, Virginia, a former resident of Traverse City, MI, having made North August her home for the past six years. She was married for 50 years to the late John Thomas Newberry Jr. John was a career Naval Officer and she and John cherished their naval assignments which allowed them to live in exciting and varied parts of the world while making many lifetime friends. Mary and John retired to Traverse City, where they enjoyed Salmon fishing, boating, traveling and visiting family and friends. As her health declined, Mary agreed to move to North Augusta to be near her beloved niece, Ginny and her husband Buck Ellis. She enjoyed six wonderful years of happiness while living in North Augusta.
Survivors include one sister, Beatrice Heilig of Chesapeake, VA, one brother Robert Kiracofe of Stuart's Draft VA, several nieces and nephews including Virginia E. and Baynard "Ginny and Buck" Ellis of North Augusta, S.C..
