Obituary

Mary Jane Persik took her last breath, Thursday, October 26, 2023 at Munson Hospice House. Prior to, her final days were spent in her home on Old Mission where she found peace with her battle with cancer. Her desire was to be in her own home and not be alone. She was alongside her daughter Angela and her grand puppies, Afayla and Murphy. She tried to visit with as many family and friends as she could during her time at home.

Mary Jane Persik of Traverse City, Michigan, was born to Marian E. (Lardie) and Stanley K. Gildarski on November 16, 1939 in Traverse City, MI. She was married to Clements John "Shorty" Persik for almost 65 years before his passing last year. He built their home on Old Mission, where they raised two daughters together, Angela Jayne and Audrey Judith Draher. Also surviving are two grandsons George and Chase Veres, a great granddaughter Scarlett Veres, a great grandson Jackson Veres, and two grand puppies she adored, Afayla Jane and Murphy Asher.

After both her daughters graduated from high school, Mary Jane found a new purpose and proudly worked for the Casciano's at Burger King for 28 years. She worked alongside many young adults who she referred to as her "other" children. Mary Jane also volunteered for her daughter's school every year to support students' academics. She enjoyed reading books, feeding squirrels, and spoiling the neighborhood dogs. In her younger years she loved gardening and spending time on East Bay that was right outside her front door.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Marian E. (Lardie) Gildarski and Stanley K. Gildarski and her husband Clements John Persik.
