Mary Margaret Rockwood, 62, of Traverse City died Sunday, October 21, 2012 at Munson Medical Center in Traverse City.

Mary was born on Tuesday, August 15, 1950 to the late Jerome and Halcyon (Rennie) Nelson in Traverse City, Michigan.

Having been employed by State of the Art Framing Gallery as a designer and also having worked at D.O.G. Bakery, Mary was able to use her gift as an artist and a lover of dogs and cats in those venues. She thoroughly enjoyed working in her gardens, yard and home, where there was always a new "plan" and a beautiful presentation.

Mary is survived by her son, William "Bill" Rockwood, her mother Halcyon Nelson, and brother John Nelson, all of Traverse City. Also surviving are her nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father, Jerome Nelson.

A visitation time to remember Mary will be held Saturday, Nov. 3 from
2 to 4 PM at the Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home.

Mary may be remembered through memorial contributions to the Traverse Area District Library.
