Mary Lenora Smith, 92, of Williamsburg, passed away on Wed. Nov. 26, 2014. Mary was born on Nov. 8, 1922 in Detroit to her parents the late Norbert and Mary Ida (Schwohl) Lerch.

She graduated from Dundee High School and later married her high school sweetheart Richard P. Smith on August 13, 1942. Together they raised their three children.

Mary was an active member of the Acme Women's Club, and was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church where she taught catechism. She was known by the Record-Eagle for her lemon meringue pies, and admired for her mild temperament and competitive edge on the tennis court and ski hills. She was a fearless skier and passed this love of the sloops on to her children and grandchildren. As a couple, Mary and her husband Richard were very active in the early development of Acme and Holliday Hills.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Richard; a sister, Marvail Lakomy Wheeler.

She is survived by her children; daughter, Bonnie Smith; sons, Ron (Darlene) Smith, Ed (Barb) Smith; 8 grand children; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchildren.

A visitation will be held on Friday, Dec.. 5, 2014 at The Reynolds-Jonkhoff Funeral Home, from 5 to 8pm. A funeral service will be celebrated on Sat. Dec. 6, at 12:30pm at St. Francis Catholic Church with a visitation held one hour prior. Burial will be held at the Acme Township Cemetery.

Memorial contributions in Mary's name may be directed to Hospice of Michigan.
