Mary Alice Stewart, 86, of Traverse City passed away Tuesday, September 6, 2022.

Mary was born on December 13, 1935 in Traverse City to the late Walter H. and Alice B. (Heimforth) Core.

She worked over 50 years on the family dairy farm, milking cows and helping with farm chores. She loved animal's especially her horses. In her younger years she helped serve as the 4H ringmaster and enjoyed helping her kids as unofficial assistant 4H Leader.

Fondly, Mary will be remembered as a very patient and loving mother, grandmother and friend.

Mary is survived by her children, James (Karen) Stewart, Gina Leonard, grandchildren, Cody Stewart, Hannah Smith, Kaleena (Eric) Slade, Holly (Ross) Avery, great grandchildren Harper, Olivia, Cody and Bryson and several other family members and friends. Also a very special niece Patty Beyer who visited with her often and helped with her care in her last days.

Mary is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Walter Jr. "Bud" (Doris) Core, grandson Kyle Stewart and her favorite Kitty Annabel.

A private family gathering will take place at a later time. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Leelanau County 4H.
