Mary Ann Sutton, age 89, passed away on April 30, 2021 at her home in Interlochen, Michigan. Mary Ann was born on April 30, 1932 to Ralph and Mary (Lucock) Ayers and was raised in Northville, Michigan.
She graduated from Northville High School and attended the University of Michigan before marrying L. Jack Sutton on July 27, 1951. They moved to Bay City, Michigan where they raised their family. Mary Ann worked in a variety of clerical positions in Bay City before they moved to Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts, where she worked as the residential manager at Chestnut Hill Benevolent Association.
After retiring, they settled in Midland, and Mary Ann was involved in various church activities, including serving as a reader, Sunday school teacher, committee member and on the church board. She also sang in the Midland Community Choir and volunteered at the King's Daughters Home. They moved to Interlochen in 2016 to be closer to family.
In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, Mary Ann was a talented pianist, a prolific reader and a quilt maker. She and Jack also loved searching for antiques and filling their house and garden with their finds. They also created beautiful yards at every home they lived in. They enjoyed traveling and visited much of the United States and Great Britain.
She leaves behind her her children: Jack (Jill) Sutton; Tim (Ruth) Sutton; Sarah (Mark Maddox) Sutton and Mary (Josh) Hollister; grandchildren: Trevor Sutton; Shane Sutton; Tiffany (Jeremy) Ford; Michael Sutton; Laura Sutton; Jesse (Alisha) Colling; Faith (Dustin) Hansen; John (Heather) Hronek; Marianna Hronek and Chris Hronek; and great-grandsons Silas and Elijah Colling. She is also survived by Jack's siblings Carol Funk, Virginia Watson and Jim Sutton. She was predeceased by her husband Jack, her parents, and son-in-law Jack Hronek.
The family will celebrate her life in a private memorial service at a later date.
